2013 Furniture Collection by Elsa Randé

Chances are that you have played with scoubidou thread at some point in childhood, whether through craft time at summer camps or keepsake exchanges with friends. The popular plastic threads used in plaits and knots found a new calling in Elsa Randé’s 2013 furniture collection, though their function as interpersonal ties became manifested as the physical connections holding together the wooden components of each furniture piece. The furniture featured in the collection is customizable with a rainbow range of thread colors, the tensile patterns occasionally crisscrossing to found a blended visual effect. Randé whimsically names each design after a memorable song – “Cry Baby” and “Shining” among them – and the nostalgic simplicity of the wooden frames also reminds of sweet yesteryear.
