Treehouse by the Solling

Designed and built by Baumraum architects, this treehouse stands on stilts, overlooking one of the client’s ponds. The site can be found nearby Uslar, Germany, in a valley neighboring the Solling hills. Once a forester’s property, the plot has been recently updated with two artificial ponds, newly planted indigenous trees, and, now, an ageless treehouse clad in larch wood and what looks like aluminum. The two-level treehouse is accessible from the hemlock spruce and ladder which connect the elevated walkway to the ground. An exterior staircase leads up to the second-floor bedroom, minimally furnished with a built-in bed and storage unit. Similarly, the lower level is outfitted with built-in benches, which allow visitors to sit as they admire the view through the windows and the domed skylight.
