The 25hours Hotel HafenCity is the first hotel located in Hamburg harbor’s large urban development area. It is part of the Transocreanic Quarter, in the heart of the HafenCity right next to attractions such as the Elbe Philharmonic Hall, the cruise terminal and the International Maritime Museum. Jürgen Böge of Böge Lindner 2K Architekten the creator of this building was inspired by the contrast between the harbor and sea, homesickness and wanderlust. Set up like any seaman’s home in a foreign harbor, the cabins are set up in a warm and comfy way. Inside the 25hours hotel, 25 seamen from around the world tell their real stories, dangerous encounters, romantic rendezvous and heart wrenching goodbyes. Their stories are woven into the wallpaper to become part of every room and they can be found in full in the cabin’s logbook. A sharp contrast is present in the hotel’s living area, it shows the raw world of harbor living, all elements have a reference to imported and exported goods. The 25hours hotel combines the traditional hotel business but at the same time answers to the demands of an urban, cosmopolitan style audience.
