Anyone who has visited a national park is sure to recall the stringency of rules and regulations; now, imagine building a house in one. 6×11 Alpine Hut in Stara fuzina, Slovenia is part of Triglav National Park, and this prime piece of real estate provided a challenge to OFIS Architects. The three-bedroom residence, with its 6 x 11 meter footprint, features elements such as wooden columns, stony facades, and ample glazing that complement the natural setting of the park. Of course, sustainability plays a role in the design. Black foil installed behind the wood cladding helps add thermal mass, and the top-heavy form acts as a sun shield over the first floor of the hut.
