A-Joint, Sand-cast Joinery System by Henry Wilson

Piles of shavings collect under the sawhorse, they find their way into your beard, stuck to your sweaty forehead, you even think you saw one floating in your coke. Something about spending an early Saturday morning in the workshop clears your brain, gives you an excuse to retreat from the nagging wife, screaming kids and the lawn that stares you down everyday you procrastinate cutting it.

Familiar products to the old faithful sawhorse drag it out of the basement and into the living room to fulfill a new purpose. Australia’s Henry Wilson has pat-pended his very own quality A-joint kit. So simple and multifaceted it can be worked into just about any furniture configuration. By using reclaimed woods, metals, and marble, he creates one of a kind pieces that are wonderfully worn, glowing with years of age. The collection for purchase includes benches, trestel tables, side tables, stools. Characteristic lamps to complete the look combine the soft touch of ceramic in the subtle shade with an industrial body. We applaud such a genuine design and look forward to his next wave of inspiration. He was honored in 2011 with the Bombay Sapphire Discovery Award for emerging Australian designers. In his own words, “I’m always being surprised by the little things that happen to me on a daily basis.  I try to distill these moments and pass the experience on in my work. There are often many layers to an object, lots of stories, you can never hope to get them all across but if they are there it gives the result depth.”
