A Modular Work Bench For Modern Artisans

Industrial designer Laura Mrkša was inspired by the recent re-emergence of handicrafts when she designed this modular work bench system. Created specifically for modern craftsmen who work with smaller objects, the bench combines functionality and versatility with individuality. It features a fixed raster on the top section of the table with boxes for storage of tools, small parts, and equipment. By integrating additional bars that create a new raster within the first one, the designer provides and easy and efficient solution to transform the top according to the user’s needs thanks to an innovative and cleverly simple modular system. Boxes of different sizes can be moved and arranged in various ways to create a custom work space. The bench is made of oak wood, which is reminiscent of traditional tables; the organic markings of the wood are complemented by the semi-transparent, frosted white box covers that also add a modern accent to the design. Ideal for a wide range of crafts and creative activities, from jewelry making to woodworking and illustration, the modular work bench is designed to become the home of the modern artisan.
