One of the toughest challenges for designers today is exploring how to adapt established fields to our modern reliance on connectivity. This becomes especially challenging when dealing with a field such as cycling that often mandates a minimal amount of cargo for one to ride comfortably. Working for the exhibition Cyke!/Bike!, Swedish designer Filip Ridderström has developed an adaptable solution with the Bikebasket/Laptopbag. Both a case for ones laptop and a basket attachable to any standard bike frame, the design embraces its cargo rather than trying to mitigate its burden. When in its laptop case mode, it is a stylish and sturdy container that also has a dedicated bike lock holder. When in its basket mode, it sits open on the front of the bike with a flexible storage pouch. The project also includes a dynamo usb charger so that one can charge a phone or computer while riding, powered by the ride itself. This protean design enables one to never be slowed down by a heavy laptop ride again.
