Working from a rough outline, the Indira BMW R80 by Ton-Up Garage paints a vivid picture of what a pure motorcycle design can be. Built around a standard BMW motorcycle, the team reworked everything from the suspension to the frame to forge a new personality in the bike while still holding true to its lines and shapes. The body of the bike was lowered with a new seat design to accommodate a more comfortable ride. Smaller and simpler fixtures were incorporated to clean up the handlebar’s feel and make it simpler for the rider to use. Everything else from new exhaust pipes to Firestone Deluxe tires help this bike to stand out, but a muted paint job ensures it doesn’t come off as too flashy. The black and brown aesthetic harkens back to the vintage bikes of the 1940s, an earthy ride low to the ground to make one really feel the grip of the tires against an unpaved road. In many ways the Indira BMW R80 evokes a pseudo Platonic purity; an archetype in its class, beauty and simplicity of the perfect bike.
