Once a water deposit area, this space is now a studio in the heart of Rome. Renovated by Camila Ormond, the Italian apartment is minimalist in design with the walls and ceiling painted white and the wooden floors in a dark finish. Small but not cramped, the flat contains three rooms and a walk-out terrace. The open plan den, dining area, and bedroom make up the main room, where a bookcase reveals a fold-out table and serves as a divider between the private and public areas. The kitchen and bathroom, on the other hand, are tucked away behind doors, in “closets” where the original pipes can be found. Altogether, the redesign pays homage to its utilitarian beginnings while breathing new life into the space.
