Minimal design with built-in flexibility for compact living.
Carl Hansen & Søn introduces the AB019 Wall Desk, a compact, wall-mounted design by Danish cabinetmaker Anker Bak. Created with small spaces in mind, the desk brings together functionality, material honesty, and a calm visual presence. It’s made for homes where space is limited but the need for a dedicated workspace still matters—whether for daily tasks, study, or quiet focus.
Rooted in Bak’s own experience living in small apartments and shaped by his time in Japan, the desk takes on the challenge of adaptability without adding visual weight. The tabletop, available in oak or laminate, is mounted on slim stainless steel brackets. Its gently rounded edge softens the profile while also acting as a comfortable armrest. Small details—like solid oak caps covering the screws—keep the overall form clear and uninterrupted.
A matching drawer unit (AB020) offers additional functionality. It can sit beneath the desk or rest on top, doubling as a raised platform for a laptop or tablet. A built-in cable outlet allows devices to stay plugged in while hidden from view, reinforcing the desk’s clean appearance and practical layout.
“This desk makes room for both work and downtime,” says Bak, who approaches design as a response to specific needs. With a background in cabinetmaking and a practice shaped by travel and hands-on observation, Bak’s work reflects a deep connection to both material and use. The AB019 Wall Desk continues this approach—an unfussy, flexible solution made to support everyday life.
