Founded by Andy Reisinger and Ezequiel Pini, Barcelona-based studio Six N. Five specializes in video and still life visuals that have a modern, clean aesthetic. The founders also create experimental work which explores the border between art and design. The Aesthetifacts Project exemplifies this perfectly. Created by Diego Diapolo and Ezequiel Pini, this project explores the possibilities of contemporary design through colorful as well as fascinating 3D concepts. Intentionally ambiguous, the products hide their purpose, inviting the viewer to analyze the experimental design and go beyond the objects’ eye-catching shapes and hues.
Taking visual cues from minimal, modern design, the concepts allude to their possible function while also maintaining their mysterious charm. A large cylinder might be a wireless speaker, while a strange object might be a coffee maker. Bright colors and contrasting textures also enhance the minimalist designs, making them look like functional objects that double as decorative items. Ultimately, the project highlights the relationship between aesthetics and function, and the value the latter might add to the former.
