Birds are often considered nature’s architects, building structurally impressive homes from raw materials. Of these, the Sociable Weaver is a skilled master, capable of producing massive nests that look like haystacks nestled in branches. Assimilation, a series of photographs captured by Dillon Marsh, depicts the adaptive nature of the Weaver birds in the barren landscape of Southern Kalahari. The telephone pole serves as proxy for the tree, and the rich textures and sheer sizes of the nests give these telephone poles a comical look. Not only have these birds demonstrated their balancing act on telephone wires, they have also claimed the telephone poles as an integral part of their habitat.
