AZ Concrete Bookends

The industrial material used to build cities and urban behemoths takes on a new meaning in the design of the AZ Concrete Bookends. Here, concrete is used naturally to enhance the essence of a practical object which is found in most homes. The bookends mark the beginning of a collaboration between two Ottawa-based designers, Andrew Ferrier and Corbin Dowd. They both share a love of typography, industrial design, and graphics, crystallized here in a modern product design that perfectly combines their passions. The weight of the concrete and the graceful lines of the letters are brought together to offer both functionality and style. Natural textures enhanced by concrete’s light gray tones lend more visual impact to the minimalist design. The packaging features the same attention to detail; simple and clean lines along with a pop of color add a beautiful finishing touch to the product. These AZ Concrete Bookends are designed and made in Ottawa, Canada. Images courtesy of Andrew Andrew Ferrier.
