Banchetto K, Caseless Computer by Mario Alessiani

For computer with increasing processing power, the CPU’s and other overworked components need more help in keeping cool. Mario Alessiani was tasked by Microcool Italia, a company specializing in thermal management, to develop a sleek alternative for the standard casing of hardware. Banchetto K, the result, is a platform that supports not open-source but open-plan. The board with plug-in ports allows the hardware to be neatly organized in a solemn salute, but by design also encourages cooling by convection and its openness to the air. Formed from rigid polyurethane foam, Banchetto K features material innovation in its lightweight build and modern look. And for those who are obsessive about keeping their electronics shiny and spotless, this is one solution to keeping the ever-dusty computer innards clean.
