Barn Conversion by Joao Mendes Ribeiro

The “Reconversion de un Grenero” spanish for barn conversion is a project by Portuguese architect João Mendes Ribeiro located in Cortegaça, Portugal. The intention for this house was to preserve the look and feel of the original structure. Dominated by flat surfaces this austere and minimalist design features a rather simple plan with living room, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, a bedroom, bathroom and a small office at the second floor.  The heart of the house is the living room with tons of natural light coming in from the oversized windows and a double height ceiling.
