When I go shopping for a new armchair, my two requirements are that the seat has to be large enough for me to curl my legs up onto the chair, and of course, that the armrests are comfortable. I figure that I am not alone in bearing these criteria; they are quite fundamental, basic if you will. Lagranja Design, a design studio based in Barcelona, has acknowledged such essentials in Basic Armchair. The chair is inspired by classic Danish design, but also carries a Mediterranean accent with its light beech frame and rounded cushions (with a fabric of choice). The captivating point is the gentle upward sweep of the armrests, which cradles the occupant in repose. Basic Armchair was originally designed for Chic & Basic Hotel near La Ramblas, but now everyone is able to go back to basics with the announced production of these chairs.
