Beautiful Lighting Design: Emko SUN-rise/-set Wall Lamp

The Sun’s natural cycles have always been a central part of human activity, but with the arrival of the concrete age, the link between the two has slowly started to fade away. Not to mention that spending so much time indoors has also accentuated the disconnect. The award-winning SUN-rise/-set Wall Lamp has an ingenious and beautiful lighting design that aims to change that. Designed by Barbora Adamonytė-Keidūnė for Emko, the lamp offers a clever solution to bring natural lighting conditions inside living spaces and transform a room’s ambience.

The plexiglass and melamine frame boasts a painted steel panel with colors that range from dark blue to vibrant yellow and red. A sliding system allows the user to move the LED and thus choose the ideal time of day; whether it’s the cool colors of misty mornings or the warmth of sunset. SUN-rise/-set has won an award at the International Exhibition Furniture 2012 in Vilnius and a prestigious Red Dot Design Concept Award in 2014. A beautiful lighting design that is also interactive, this lamp suits living spaces and offices. It comes in both small and large versions and they are both available here.
