Once a dilapidated 19th-century barn, this stone structure was recently converted into a serene family home in Bilka, Czech Republic. A2F Architects renovated the building, reusing many materials from the historic site. The architecture team created a new timber structure but saved the exterior for a waterproof seal and a rustic look characteristic of the Bohemian Uplands. The updated interior features wooden walls, floors, and beams, as well as a new roof and skylights. Light and warm, the contemporary additions make the home better lit and insulated, transforming the unused barn into an eco-friendly and comfortable abode.
