Creative and modern, the Blow Me Up inflatable lamp reimagines classic lighting as a fun and flexible product. Designed by Munich-based Ingo Maurer, the lamp comes in a small can – saving space while in transit. The owner then has to inflate the plastic tube – hence the name – before installing the light. Blow Me Up comes with an integrated LED strip as well as a switch on one side. While in use, the plastic tube emits a soft white light.
Suspended by the ceiling, propped up against a wall, or simply placed on a desk – there are numerous installation possibilities. As Ingo Maurer and his team explain, “With a suitable adapter Blow Me Up can also be connected to the 12 volts supply of a camping van. The plastic hose, however, should be treated more carefully than camping equipment because above all it is neither a swimming noodle nor a laser sword.”
The ingenious design allows the owner to simply deflate the tube and put the lamp in a travel bag. But whether at home or out on an adventure in a natural landscape, this inflatable lamp certainly adds a playful accent to any space. You can find Blow Me Up on the brand’s website, at a price of around $280. Photographs© Ingo Maurer.
