Inspired by the legendary Paris-Dakar rally, the new BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose celebrates the BMW G/S motorcycle that was taken by Gaston Rahier over the finish line to win the 1985 race. The name alludes to this event, which marked three consecutive wins for BMW. Lac Rose is the French name for the rosy-hued Retba salt water lake, the place where the Paris-Dakar rallies ended and where the victors received their awards. Paying homage to the original bikes, this BMW R nineT version maintains many features yet adds modern touches to transform the racing motorcycle into a more street-oriented design. Spoke wheels with studded tires, headlamp with a high mudguard, large fuel tank, short seat, and a longer suspension travel contribute to the motorcycle’s distinct look. Bespoke valve covers, a two-cylinder flat twin engine, oil cooler protector, and a perforated underride guard complete the design, along with the eye-catching red and white color combination and the addition of the number 101, which adorned the bike Gaston Rahier rode to victory in 1985. An exclusive rider suit and helmet equipment complements the bike.
