In 2016, both Brooks England and Vans celebrate important milestones, with the British bicycle saddle manufacturer turning 150 and the legendary footwear brand marking its 50th anniversary. Naturally, the two icons decided to celebrate in style by collaborating on a limited-edition collection that pays homage to the their shared passion for traditional craftsmanship, handmade products and modern sophistication.
The capsule collection features the artworks of artist, designer and long-time Vans collaborator Taka Hayashi. Inspired by the Swift saddle and southwestern motifs, Hayashi created gorgeously detailed artworks which appear on the TH OG Sk8-Hi LX, the TH OG Classic Slip-On LX and on the Barbican Shoulder Bag via laser-etching, with a special molded emboss plate process used for the Swift Saddle. The rich brown premium leather, cycling-oriented footwear and bag as well as the blend of motifs that reference both a classic Brooks design and American heritage connect the four pieces in a simply striking collection that perfectly conveys the significance of the two milestones.
You can find the range online at the Brooks England web store and also at select Vans Vault dealers. The prices for these collectible items range from $185 for the slip-ons and up to $350 for the Barbican cycling bag. Photo credits: Brooks England.
