This 1972 Porsche 911E almost seems like it traveled through time, landing in Houston, Texas directly from a ‘70s Italian movie. Restored by Michael Meldrum, the air-cooled car looks as good as new – maybe even better. As one of the coolest sports car in existence, the 911E provides a fantastic canvas for restoration projects. But this gem proves that less is more.
Like many Italian delivery cars from that era, the 911E featured a stripped-down configuration – no seat belts, radio, or hazard lights, among others. This reduced the value of the cars and maintained them in a certain price bracket, allowing dealers at the time to avoid paying more import tax. Before reaching their owners, the cars received both the all-important and the optional upgrades, making them ready for the road. Converted to regular Euro spec by the previous owner, this car also features the signature turn signal assembly and a gorgeous Albert Blue paint that really puts the curves of the Porsche 911E in the best possible light.
