Color Factory

If you live in San Francisco or if you’re planning to visit this August, you really shouldn’t miss the opportunity to bring a bit of color into your life by going to Color Factory. Created by Oh Happy Day in collaboration with artist Leah Rosenberg and designer Erin Jang, this large interactive exhibition features 15 site-specific works spread across 12,000 square feet. Beyond the building’s vibrant facade, visitors of all ages find a chromatic wonderland. The interactive artworks include a ball pit with 207,000 yellow balls, a room with 10,000 colored ribbons, a confetti room, a holographic prism room, as well as a selfie installation and a bright yellow gift shop. A machine dispenses soft scoop ice cream on tap, while a seven-foot Lazy Susan serves technicolor treats.

Participants can also register for a card at the entrance and receive a barcode. This gives them access to room-sized photo booth sessions where they can capture the moment and instantly receive the image through email. Other treats include receiving a map with 17 specially-commissioned color experiences dotted throughout the city. Set in Union Square, Color Factory runs from August 1 to August 31, with a possibility to extend the exhibition. If you want to visit, you can drop by any day of the week except Wednesday, between 10 AM-10 PM. As for the building, you can’t miss it – instead ox X, colorful stripes mark the spot.
