Comic Headshots by Kaija Straumanis

View all 7 Photos

Photographer Kaija Straumanis’ headshots are self-portraits in which she gets whacked in the head by common objects, such as a book and a clutch of Easter eggs. The images shine in youthfully bright colors, setting the stage for hipster nostalgia, yet the action depicted isn’t fit for romance so much as discomfort comedy. If randomness be the fruit of art, play on. But, we hope no brain damage was sustained in the making of this photoset.
