Cork Backpack by Ryosuke Fukusada and Rui Pereira

Collaborative design can unite cultures to produce fruitful ideas and products that gain universal appear. Ryosuke Fukusada and Rui Pereira have combined elements from their respective backgrounds to produce Inrou, a cork-based backpack. The design draws inspiration from inrou, a Japanese pouch commonly hung on obi sashes, and tarro, a cork-based container used in southern parts of Portugal for food preservation. Stemming from both these precedents, the concept of keeping an important item on one’s person easily translated to modern times: the laptop. By nature of cork, Inrou not only protects but also is comfortable due to the material’s give. Bright blue straps give the neutral tones of the cork and leather accents a boost of cheer.
