Sarah Gibson is an industrial designer and co-founder of DesignByThem, established with Nicholas Karlovasitis in 2007. After completing a bachelor degree in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney, she continued her studies at the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Germany. Following her graduation, she worked as a designer in Cologne before returning to Australia to establish DesignByThem. In collaboration with Karlovasitis, under the name GibsonKarlo, she creates award-winning furniture, lighting, and accessories. The studio also curates and promotes products created by other Australian designers. Sarah Gibson has worked with renowned clients, including The Sydney Opera House, Google, and the National Gallery of Victoria. Her work has been included in the permanent collection of Museum of Applied Arts and Science and has received many awards, including several Good Design Awards. She currently lives and works in Sydney.
