German designer Sebastian Herkner was born in 1981. His studies in product design at the Offenbach University of Art & Design explored both traditional and cutting-edge manufacturing methods. Focusing on different cultural contexts, the designer also researched the way crafting techniques can highlight a product’s subtle details. During his time at University, Sebastian Herkner completed an internship with Stella McCartney in London. There, he honed his skills and fine-tuned his design approach on color, texture, and material. He opened his own design firm in 2006. Studio Sebastian Herkner focuses on product and furniture design as well as interior design projects. The studio collaborates with a range of national and international brands, producing minimalist designs that are often complemented by vibrant or playful accents. The designer’s work has received many awards, including a Red Dot Design Award, Elle Deco Awards, and German Design Awards, with Sebastian Herkner also named Guest of Honor 2016 at imm Cologne.
