The Cyclist Raincoat by Senscommon

Cycling in the rain is set to become more comfortable and stylish thanks to the innovative Cyclist Raincoat designed by Laura Šilinska. Shortlisted in the Muji Design Awards in 2014, the coat will be launched soon under the Amsterdam-based, independent fashionsenscommon. Specifically designed for cyclists, the raincoat’s concept is based around optimum mobility, comfort and riding safety, with an emphasis put on both minimalism and functionality. The material was developed in collaboration with specialized fabric manufacturer Koojoo to ensure the unisex raincoat offers both high performance and reliability in harsh weather. Breathable, lightweight, waterproof, and wind-resistant, the coat is ideal for riding in all kinds of weather, throughout the year. The highlight of the design is the push-button system that combines with the split hem to let the wearer fasten the raincoat around the legs and pedal away in complete comfort, keeping dry from head to knees in the process. The hood is also designed with cyclists in mind, ensuring excellent peripheral vision and remaining in place even in fierce winds. The sleeves boast a black reflective print on the back, for more visibility at night and more peace of mind. Featuring an A-line silhouette and an adjustable waistline, the raincoat will fit everyone and is also roomy enough to protect a backpack. The Cyclist Raincoat is available to pre-order on Kickstarter until October 7 and will be available on the senscommon website early next year. Photography by Sabrina Bongiovanni.
