De Kas: Restaurant inside a Greenhouse - Gessato

De Kas: Restaurant inside a Greenhouse

A former nursery/greenhouse located on the outskirts of Amsterdam built back in 1926 has been completely revamped into a large restaurant and vegetable garden called De Kas by Chef Gert Jan Hageman. Chef Hageman had a vision; he approached the city with his idea of renovation and ended up buying out the place with only 1 Euro about ten years ago. This 8 Meter tall restaurant stands out as a majestic building inside the Frankendael Park. The dining room is spacious and beautifully lit trees intersperse the tables. Every seat has a clear view of the garden, the sky and the semi open kitchen through the glass ceilings and walls. Almost all of the vegetables, herbs and editable flowers are home grown, with a large field about 10 Kilometers away the restaurant harvests its own seasonal veggies at sunrise every morning. Having the freshest ingredients and gorgeous dining environment, this is a must go for both locals and travelers.
