Denim Art by Ian Berry

If Picasso were alive today, he’d be facing a rival to his Blue Period. Ian Berry aka Denimu, is a Sweden-based artist who crafts his portraits and depictions out of a different kind of blue: denim. The rough, durable material often used for blue jeans or other clothing is Berry’s medium of choice, as he cuts precise shapes from the fabric and then enters a process of bleaching, spraying, and stenciling to achieve the right shade and texture. The natural quality of the fabric also comes into play as these monochromatic works of art build a breathing world of blue.
