Clara Crous Arquitectura

Girona, Spain

Founded in 2017 in the Alt Empordà region of northern Catalonia, Clara Crous Arquitectura works primarily on houses, renovations, and interiors rooted in the landscapes and building traditions of the Mediterranean. Based in a rural setting surrounded by fields and small villages, the studio approaches each project through conversations with clients, careful observation of daily routines, and a close reading of the site itself. Old stone walls, lime finishes, clay plasters, timber structures, and other natural materials often find their way into the work—not as nostalgic references, but as part of a practical and familiar building culture.

Led by architect Clara Crous, the studio has developed a body of residential work that balances contemporary construction with local knowledge and craftsmanship. Projects such as Casa al Pradet, designed as the architect’s own home and studio, reflect this approach: timber construction, self-building, and a strong connection to the rhythms of the surrounding agricultural landscape. Rather than pursuing a recognizable style, the practice focuses on creating homes that feel tied to their place, their owners, and the way they are lived in.
