Local Local is an architecture practice working between Athens and London. The studio focuses on projects shaped by their setting—how people use a place, how materials weather, how history and daily life overlap. Each project begins with close research into the site and its social and cultural context, and that information guides the design rather than decorating it.
Founded in 2022 by architect Sofia Xanthakou, the studio works on residential and cultural commissions, often in locations where tourism, migration, or shifting economies have changed how communities live. Sofia’s background in urbanism and landscape studies, along with her research into the Cyclades and other island environments, anchors the practice’s approach: careful observation, clear planning, and an interest in how architecture supports everyday routines. Projects develop steadily from concept to supervision, with the goal of producing work that fits its surroundings in both use and tone.
