Domestic Furniture Exhibit by Roy McMakin

Just this year, artist Roy McMakin developed a curated collection of furniture for Lora Reynolds Gallery in Austin, Texas. Designed by McMakin himself and crafted in his Seattle-based workshop, Big Leaf Manufacturing, the limited edition pieces include a caudal stool, a slatback chair, and a sofa, among many more everyday American classics. Drawing from a range of inspirations, from an Edward Hopper painting to the set of a porn flick, the designs play with color and material. Domestic Furniture by Roy McMakin will show from September 13 to November 8, 2014. See Lora Reynolds Gallery’s website for more information about the opening and artist talk.
