Dream Hostel and Hotel in Finland

The Dream Hotel is a 2014 addition to the Dream Hostel in Tampere, Finland. Studio Puisto Architects worked upon the existing structure, which was once an industrial building, converting the upper levels into affordable double and twin rooms.

Making use of natural materials, the renovated space is lined with locally sourced wood and finished with oil. The rooms are insulated with wood fiber for acoustic control, and the carpeting in the public spaces is made from the plant sisal.

There are communal kitchen and meeting rooms, both lit by skylights during the day. The interior is furnished with modern pieces such as suspended basket chairs in the common areas and lightbulb-esque wall racks in the bedrooms.

Cleanly designed with attention to cost and material, the Dream Hotel offers a promising segway between hostel and traditional hotel spaces. The private rooms can be found listed on many mainstream booking websites.
