Abandoned Basketball Courts Captured on Film

View all 15 Photos

Chris Tubbs’ “Out of Doors” began more than 10 years ago, when the French photographer came across an abandoned basketball court in Cuba. Since then, Tubbs kept seeing and documenting hoops and courts in the absence of people. He has captured such scenes in more than 300 film images. In this ongoing project, the countries represented number 37 and counting. Tubb’s subjects range from home hoops to public courts and from the pristine to the overgrown, yet the basketball imagery serves as a familiar frame, welcoming the viewer into each context from a similar starting point. The photographs are available online from Chris Tubbs in signed, limited edition prints, priced from $835-1,150.
