Exley SS17

Inspired by New England and the past, Exley designs and makes outerwear for the modern man who lives an extraordinary life. Timeless, elegant, and minimalist, the garments have a distinct personality. A heart beating in the rhythm of New England, “a place that’s rugged and coastal and refined all at once.” For the Spring/Summer 2017 season, the company designed a collection that wonderfully captures the beauty of this coastal landscape, from its hidden beaches where blue waves crash on pale ash sand to winding paths where wild flowers bloom. Thus, the color palette ranges from sand and taupe to rusted orange and intense dark blue.

The collection features a modern take on classic designs which combines with a passion for craftsmanship and a clean aesthetic. Here, the updated versions of the rain coat, the ubiquitous pullover, the Harrington jacket, and the everyday hoodie boast a modern design anchored in refined minimalism. A high attention to detail, hand-sewn finishes, and the blend of hi-tech water-resistant fabrics and soft, comfortable materials create garments meant to be worn at any time, in any place, and in any summer weather. The summertime look and feel of the range is especially nuanced in the swim short pieces, which mark the company’s debut in swimwear design.
