While still relatively new in the US, the Mini Velo model is extremely popular in other parts of the world. And it’s easy to see why. More compact than a standard bicycle, these mini bikes are convenient, easy to store in a smaller apartment, and even easy to carry around, if needed. They also suit a wide range of riders and have a simpler build compared to folding bikes. At the same time, the 20’’ wheels allow the rider to accelerate faster, making every cycling trip more fun. This Falconer Baja Bug Mini Velo exemplifies the bike’s charm perfectly. It blends simplicity and function with a performance-focused design.
Completed by Falconer Cycles for the client’s second trip to Baja, California, this custom mini bike features the classic rigid frame and short wheelbase along with 20’’ wheels. Measuring 2.8’’ in width, the tires can handle deep sand with ease. Other features include the Rohloff hub that is both reliable and versatile, and parts from White Industries and Paul Components. A Hunter Cycles Smooth Move High Rise Handlebar, a sandy-cream colored paint finish, and a complementing light brown seat complete the build. Photographs© Falconer Cycles.
