“Free Fall” is the first underwater film by the diver-filmmakers of the French studio Les Films Engloutis. Published on Vimeo, the video gives viewers a rare look at deep-sea freediving. The short film is shot off of the coast of Long Island of the Bahamas. The subject, co-director Guillaume Néry, steps down from the shore, traveling down the shallow, sandy sea bed. A base jumper, Néry then dives down into the depths of Dean’s Blue Hole, the largest of its kind at 202 meters. In a surprisingly beautiful show, the diver lands on the bottom, extending his arms as the music plays “you make me feel stronger.” His extreme sport is completed as a unified visual and visceral experience.
