This historical farmhouse in the Loire Valley region of France was converted into a contemporary summer home by the Parisian firm Septembre Architecture. The architects restored the stonework and the roof, treated the wood, and installed floor heating, insulation, and glass doors and windows. They whitewashed the walls but left the wooden beams, lintels, and rafters naturally finished for contrast. On the ground floor, they centralized an open plan living and dining room, rooting the two-story home in a common area. The furnished space features minimalist decor and local carpentry.
