Fritz Panzer’s Exhibit at Alberta Pane Gallery

September 8^th, an exhibit of Fritz Panzer’s new work will open at Alberta Pane Gallery in Paris. The show, called Doubles, is comprised of wire sculptures that re-create life sized every-day objects. The sculptures take cues from gestural contour drawings, translating that method of perceiving into three dimensions: a thin line is used to suggest the volume of a chair or piano, but with a playful abstraction that allows the form to dissipate in places, while still permitting the viewer to intuit the nature of the object, relying in part on memory. In this way the sculptures evoke something ethereal – an object is recognizable to the viewer because it resembles something known, but it is never described in detail, and is at times invisible. The show runs until October 13^th at 14 rue Saint-Claude.
