Drawing inspiration from the French chocolate wafer confection (gaufrette au chocolat), the two architects behind Barcelona-based studio Manolito & Manolita present a design for coffee table that celebrates sustainability and reuse of materials. Similar to the delectable synergy of chocolate and coffee, Gaufrette au Barcelone fuses restored wooden panels for a luxurious look of alternating bands of brown and tan that mimic the sweet delight. The layers include wood, MDF, chipboard, and plywood of varying thicknesses for both the cubic version and the rectangular one. Each unique in its composition, the table is easily mobile on its rubber casters, while retaining a hint of modern with its polished iron front.
