Halfbike II: A Standing Bike by Kolelinia

Following up on their original effort, Kolelinea developed the Halfbike II, a curvier variation of the minimalist standing design. Both models require cyclists to stand up and control the movement of the bike with their whole body. As a result, each ride is an engaging and fun exercise in balance.

The Halfbike II in particular is a lightweight folding design at less than 18 pounds. The versatile bicycle is suitable for commuting, working out, and whiling away the time, and it makes for quite the conversation piece, too. Eye-catching and unmistakable, the Halfbike II strips the concept of a bike down to its wheel and crankset. The quality design pairs a laser-cut aluminum frame with a waterproof plywood handlebar, and each piece is assembled by a single person. Available in neutral colors, the design comes in all-black or a white and natural wood colorway.

Like its predecessor, the Halfbike II is up for crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Successfully funded within a day of its campaign launch, the project is now in the running for its stretch goal of outfitting each bike with lights and fenders. The Halfbike II is priced at $399 for pre-order and will go up to $599 after crowdfunding concludes.
