The House 12k by Dierendonck Blancke Architecture is sandwiched in between two structures where it may be small in size, but it provides a lasting amount of comfort to its residents in Ghent, Belgium. It has three floors that vary in height and are all connected by a central staircase. The altering ceilings create an atmosphere for different vistas and a continuance of space. Natural sunlight brings life and energy deep into the home through the skylight placed directly above the staircase. The dining room and kitchen area has an ample amount of ceiling space where a visual relationship between the office above the entrance hall is created. The upper floor has a maximum amount of floor space because of the mezzanine in the bedroom. The roof has an angular slant which highlights the linear details of the home.
