House and Universe by Mary Mattingly

Where would we lay our head down if the world as we know it collapsed, if the cities that inspired us crumbled, if our worse fears came true from wars, natural disasters, economic depression?  Hard pressed for an answer multimedia artist Mary Mattingly prescribes us with House and Universe, an installation which offers a bloom of hope. The possibility that we could pull it off, the curiosity in our sustainability and survival tacts. Our imaginations are stretched to a fine thread, as we entertain these concepts to “get us through” such challenges as the human race whether floating on waters in a tent like structure, or making the most of a pile of cardboard. These thoughtful photographs not only expose the struggle but also miraculous innovations designed for a new kind of audience.

Allison Parker is a proud stay at home mom maintaining a full schedule kissing boo boos and passing out hugs just because. Her days many times are spent between the garden and the kitchen. From a journey of learning whole food eating habits, she’s taken on the challenges of baking bread, muffins and cakes from scratch and filling the cellar shelves with scores of her own canned goods each year. Writing is one of those things she does because its part of who she is. That and it’s a nice break from the never ending work that comes with raising a family.
