House Banzao II by Fredrico Valsassina Architects

When urbanization can tire an individual to an absolute need for rest and reprise, a beautiful home nestled in the pine enriched forests of Banzao, Portugal sounds like the perfect cure. This home, designed by FVA Architects, includes sturdy single hinged timber shutters that accent the bold openings of the home while also completely enclosing it. The rustic materials of the interior are represented beautifully through the horizontal wooden shades that slide along a concealed vertical track. An open air courtyard ventilates the innermost rooms. Relaxation is available to residents both in and outside of the house through the tucked away pool that sits in the corner of the outdoor terrace.
