House in Itu by Studio Arthur Casas

What a magnificent place to call home in Itu, Brazil.  A young family with children have the pleasure to enjoy this get away at the end of everyday.  The floor plan by Studio Arthur Casas is lean and long, drawing the attention to the outdoors with many pocket doors introducing the living space to some fresh air.  Pressed up against the bank of a large pond, the view is serene, geese often entertain with their family waddling in line.  The only thing defining the structure most of the time is the great pillar of solid wood, sturdy and unmoving.  It brings nature in when the home is closed up, as does the beautiful ceiling featured in warm wood grains same as the floors.  So interesting is the old Yellow Ipe tree that has been preserved by the builder.  The stairs wrap around its trunk as if to honor its long life sustained by the nearby waters.  A pool appears organically into the landscape with its framing rocks and long grasses.  However, a simply framed trellis hangs off the end of the patio, creating architectural flair off beat from the trees and plants.  The entire presentation of the property is a sweet dance between the structure and the natural surroundings making both geese and humans feel at home. Allison Parker is a proud stay at home mom maintaining a full schedule kissing boo boos and passing out hugs just because. Her days many times are spent between the garden and the kitchen. From a journey of learning whole food eating habits, she's taken on the challenges of baking bread, muffins and cakes from scratch and filling the cellar shelves with scores of her own canned goods each year. Writing is one of those things she does because its part of who she is. That and it's a nice break from the never ending work that comes with raising a family.
