Introducing Nested NY

The very best of South African furniture design.

Founded in 2015 in NYC by a couple who hails from South Africa, Nested NY aims to introduce South African design to the US through gorgeous collections that marry traditional craftsmanship and premium materials. Husband and wife Gareth Hall and Laura Bird met in London. They spent several years exploring Europe before moving back to their native South Africa. When an opportunity to move to the US came up, the couple took their three young children and made NYC their new home. Soon, the design-loving couple realized that South African design, increasingly sought-after throughout Europe, wasn’t properly represented in the US. They founded Nested NY to change that. The brand not only offers expertly curated modern designs, but also support small businesses and their growth. At the same time, it brings another dimension to the world of Brooklyn furniture designers.

A leading source of customizable and high-quality furniture, the company showcases the very best of contemporary South African design. Created by renowned or young, on-the-rise designers, the brand’s collections feature a blend of minimalism, creativity, and quality materials. The designs boast African and European influences as well as a distinctive aesthetic. Solid wood, steel and leather materials with different patterns, shapes, and techniques showcase the expertise of master craftsmen. Distinctive and modern, every piece of furniture featured by the brand has a story and character. The Nested NY collection will be on show at this year’s Architectural Digest Design Show, alongside other Brooklyn furniture designers.
