True to its name, architecture firm Elii (“everyday life invents itself”) highlights in the Jane Fonda-Kit House the most routine daily activity: exercising. The house, lovingly abbreviated as JF-Kit, is an experimental complex that works conceptually on an urban, architectural, and economic scale. The easy-to-erect wooden structure, as proven by its current location on CIVA’s rooftop in Brussels, has translucent paneling that presents unique spatial conditions within the triangulated space. On the wooden frames are attachments that encourage workouts; the video campaign for the house shows a number of men – somewhat comically – exercising around the house. Whether you fancy cycling near the corner post of the house or doing strength training with the help of the ceiling and rafters, the whimsical state of activity within the house adds an extra dynamism to its already energetic form.
