Kinematics Modular Robots

Founded in May of this year, Kinematics is a German company that uses 3D printing technology to create toy robots. Following in the path of LEGO Mindstorms, Kinematics is developing building block construction kits for kids. Kinematics distinguishes itself from LEGO, however, by designing products for young children who have yet to learn computer skills. Through playing with the modular kinetic parts, youth will gain understanding of mechanics, sensors, and renewable energy, concepts which will help them to grasp computer-based robotics and to succeed in school as they grow up. Kinematics’ initial designs–including an ant, a dog, a bug, an excavator, and a power station–are to be released in spring of 2014. Follow the company’s progress on Facebook or through their newsletter.
