Kreis-Lauf: Traditionally Made Shoes by The Tomorrow Collective

KREIS – LAUF translates from the German as “cyclic” or “circling,” so it’s a fitting descriptor for The Tomorrow Collective’s nostalgic venture into shoemaking. For the project, the design team made everyday shoes from natural materials such as leather, textiles, and cork. Combined with traditional craftsmanship, these sustainable choices are quite durable. What’s more is that the simple styles can be easily fixed in the event of wear and tear. The design encourages the user to take the shoes to the cobbler instead of throwing them in the trash, extending the footwear’s lifetime of use and appreciation.
